HOW IT WORKS
Consultation & Risk Assessment
We talk through your sleep and assess whether you are at increased risk for obstructive sleep apnea and how it affects your health and sleep quality.
Sleep Study
We refer you for a home sleep test or in-lab polysomnogram, read by a sleep physician, to confirm or rule out obstructive sleep apnea.
Custom Oral Appliance
An FDA-cleared appliance, made from impressions of your mouth, keeps your lower jaw and tongue forward so your airway stays open while you sleep.
Follow-up
We fine-tune the fit and coordinate with your physician to check your results, so you keep sleeping well.
Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a serious, common chronic disorder where breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep due to block in the airflow from the nose to the lungs which is usually caused by the collapse of the soft tissues in the back of the throat (upper airway) and relaxation of the tongue during sleep.
What Are Oral Appliances?
Oral appliances are small, custom-fit FDA-cleared devices that are clinically proven to treat snoring and mild-moderate-severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea. They are only worn while you sleep. The device helps you breathe freely by keeping your lower jaw in a forward position to prevent the tongue and other soft tissues from obstructing the airway. It can help restore your oxygen levels by reducing the pauses in breathing that cause drops in your pulse/oxygen saturation.
It is fabricated using impressions and models of your mouth and may be covered under your medical insurance plan.
Cpap vs Oral Appliances
OSA treatments include continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy, oral appliance therapy (OAT), or surgery. Due to poor compliance with CPAP devices, and the invasiveness of surgical procedures, Oral Appliance Therapy is gradually becoming the preferred treatment of hundreds of thousands of people with snoring and sleep apnea difficulties because these devices offer several advantages.
